Bald Class: Bald Class 4

I had 1 hair transplant with 3,000 grafts with Dr. Cooley. It took about 13 hours.

Non-Surgical Treatments:

After the hair transplant surgery I read other blogs to get tips. I learned that I should use Nizoral and Nioxin in my shampoo rotations. I also used Avodart (like Propecia but not as expensive) and Minoxidil to stimulate the growth a little more.

My Hair Loss Story

I started noticing my hair loss at age 22. Almost immediately I tried Rogaine but it didn't do any good. I went on and off with Propecia as well. By my early 30s I had lost quite a bit of hair. I went to at least 3 different consultations, and the only thing that held me back was the cost. When that was resolved, I did more research and found who I believed to be the best person for the job - Dr. Jerry Cooley.

How has my hair loss affected me?

It made me look older! I started getting used to it but it was always a downer to see.

What hair loss treatments have worked best for me?

Absolutely nothing worked. Only the hair transplant solved it.

Am I happy with my hair transplant experience and the results?

It is one of the best things I've ever done in my life. After it grew in, I looked in the mirror and said "Hey I remember that guy!". I felt like I was looking at the old me from college. I missed seeing that, but now I see it every day. I am extremely happy. I've looked at photos of myself from this same year, before the hair transplant, and have a mixture of laughter and horror. It's funny to see myself look so bald, but at the same time it's horrible to see that I looked like that. I'm just happy I did it.

What hair loss treatments would I recommend?

Since nothing else has worked for me, I could only recommend a transplant. However I've been told Avodart/Propecia works best in terms of something you can take.

How has hair restoration surgery changed my life?

Like a car or a cell phone, once you get it you can't believe how you lived your life before you had it.

My general advice and suggestions.

1) Find a doctor with an IMPECCABLE record. Go on the boards, look up doctors and you will find a few that have great records with their clients. Don't go for the best or cheapest deal. It took a lot of research for me to find Dr. Cooley, but I made the perfect decision by choosing him. Remember, it's not an exact science and if your hair doesn't grow, you do NOT get your money back.

This is why it's so important to make sure you go to a doctor who has a perfect track record of his/her patients always getting their hair to grow. Jerry Cooley is one of those doctors.
