About

I did start thinning my hair when I was about 20 and I remember my friends telling me not to apply gel as they could see my scalp from the top. It was not until I was 24ish when I noticed my front receding and only then did i really start worrying/noticing. I never bothered to look how I might be looking on the top/crown as all I cared to see daily was the front :D. But the last 5 years have been a real change for me as more and more of the hair started thinning where it has reached a stage where I can no longer comb properly. I went from being a guy who used to love being in front of the camera to one who love being only behind the camera for pics and very concious where ever I go.

I've been going over google for hair loss pics for over 3 yrs now and which ever pic I clicked then, it ended up in this forum, and then I understood that this is the alpha and the omega of hair loss information;) I did not intend to have a hair transplant then but when I started going over the forumns, and found that no major side effects were there, i was keen to know if I could be a candidate. I then knew since i have diffused/thinning, I need to choose my doctor carefully and that since I am just 30, I need to be more conservative in my approach. I know its difficult to hold back the want of more hair :( .

Dr Konior's consultation was very smooth. He made sure he put across what he felt was best for me though i was wanting some coverage on my crown if it was possible. He told me to avoid anything on the crown for now. And that 2000- 2500 grafts would be enough for me for now. I remember each time he ran his fingers over my hair, telling me that my donor hair was fairly good and that the sides of the donor were almost as dense as the back. That sounded like an opera to me since I knew I would go into a higher norwood in the older days and this being a lil comforting to me now :D. He also told since I have diffused hair loss, the shock loss would be more if I tried to have a very higher number of grafts which did make sense. I did not know how the one hour flew by in the consultation and he sat there and answered all my questions. I then decided that he would do my transplant.

Bald class 3V

Norwood stage 3 Vertex

In terms of the receding hairline, stage 3 vertex balding is a less drastic version of stage 3.
However, people experiencing stage 3 vertex balding will also begin losing hair on the crown of their head. This often starts as one small bald spot.

Procedure 1

3 Month So finally I have hit the month 3 mark and I can say I am finally seeing some growth on my hairline and my new hairline is almost visible to me now . I can say now I look like someone with hairloss rather than a bald person. I still look like how I was before the transplant. Once the hairline thickens up, i think the difference would kick in.I am waiting for the 5 month mark so that i can go and have a haircut and cut off the sides as the sides seems to grow 2X times the top hair.I don't want to cut the sides now as it might expose the shock loss around the donor area.I spread out my hair ( whatever hair I have  ) and go for work. But once its brought close together, you can see I still have a big area to cover. Hopefully Dr K's magic will become obvious in the coming 2 months.

Procedure 1

3 Weeks So I had my haircut today. I don't think I can carry out this look without a hat when I for work to my new work place in 4 days as my top looks really odd with scattered hair.I don't find all of them with equal length and I might end up wearing a hat . I know I had entered my ugly duckling phase like 10 years back when I started loosing hair but I guess now I am in some super ugly duckling phase :D . I was able to kind of hide the donor scar with toppik.

1 Month Noticed small hair growth ( existing hair ) and all transplanted hair shedding. Donor feels to be healing and redness on the head going which i guess is to the use of aloe vera gel.

Procedure 1

2 Weeks So it has been 2 weeks now and the scabs have gone completely. The hair is growing longer bit by bit.  I see a few hairs starting to fall off after I had a good bath and massage on the head. I guess since its past 2 weeks, I can expect more of it to fall off. I am also seeing redness on the scalp. It does not concern me as of now as I am wearing a cap to work.Starting next week, I will be moving to a new city and start working there and i will have a haircut by end of week 3 and see if I can conceal the transplant. If not I might say I am having a medical condition and would like to wear a hat for a few weeks. I took a close up of my scalp to see whats going on there  (pic attached) and I could see different lengths of hair. A few were long, a few short, and a few like they are just babies. I asked my doctor why this difference and he said hair grows asynchronously, as in each hair has a cycle of its own and grows at different rates and goes into resting at different times. And since I had a few existing hair here and there, it might look of different length when looked closely. When I feel my donor, i kind of feel there is a small bump above the donor line. I asked my doc if its something to worry about. He said he can't comment on it without seeing and that it might not be something to worry about unless its tender or getting bigger. I am not sure now if its a bump or if i feel its a bump coz there is no hair on the donor area and it's giving an illusion of being a bump because of the sudden fall in hair. I will have a second person take a look at it today and see if they find anything odd going on there.
