About

My hairloss began at the age of 18 when I started to be going bald at the temples.

Immediately I tried to work against it and used Minoxidil. I did not like Minoxidil and perceived it as destroying my hair rather than fighting against hairloss.

I stopped using it and thought about accepting my hairloss.

However, since my hairline crawled back more and more I contacted Andreas Kraemer who is an idependent advisor with regard to hair loss. He suggested to take finasterid at least for one year before taking any other steps.

In summer 2012 I started taking finasterid in form of Finahair pills. I definately perceived that my hairloss more or less stopped after a couple of weeks. Futhermore I gained some hair back.

Furthermore Andreas Kraemer suggested Dr. Feriduni who is surgeon located in Hasselt, Belgium.

After the first consultation in August 2013 we decided to have a FUE treatment with 2600-2900 units.

The treatment will take place on the 24th and 25th of February 2014.

Procedure 1

After 3 months Already 3 months passed by and until now I’m quite happy with the results so far. Actually I’m just before the promised growth stage, which starts normally starts 3 months after the surgery. When I’m in public no one recognizes that I had a hair surgery anymore and friends cheer me up for my new hair. However, the recipient area is still a bit red (some days it looks ok and other days it is more red). I’m still used to cut my hair to 3mm every 2 to 3 weeks. But from the beginning of next month I’m planning to grow my hair for the first time. I’m already excited about my new look and going to try some nice haircuts :-)

Procedure 1

After 2 months Actually I was surprised that I did not lose all the new hair during the last weeks. Furthermore some of the new hair I lost during the last couple of weeks already started to grow again. I don’t know if this happened because I use Minoxidil to stimulate the hair growth or if I am just lucky that everything went better than expected. I’m looking forward to the next weeks for some more growth :-)

Day 21 Until now the healing process went very well and the pain in the donor area is nearly vanished completely. However, from time to time I suffer from some light pain in the donor area. Luckily I did not lose any hair until now but expecting the shock loss to start the upcoming week.

Procedure 1

After 1 month A few days ago I started losing the new hair. It is more a creeping process instead of a shock loss from one day to another. Until now I would say I have lost nearly half of the new FUs that have been transplanted. For that reason I shaved down my hair to 6mm again to keep my appearance more accurate. I might shave it down further to 3mm when I will have lost all FUs until they will start growing again in the upcoming months. I guess the upcoming 2-3 months will be the toughest time since you lose your hair again and go back to a hairline you are not used to anymore. I think it will be a wise decision to just shave it down to 3 mm and try not to think about your hair too much until they start growing again.

Day 4 Today was the first day to wash my head with the shampoo provided by Dr. Feriduni. It is very important to do it with caution but it went quite well. I still feel some pain in the donor area and I hope this will get better in the next couple of days. In total, everything is fine and I’m still happy with my decision that I have chosen Dr. Feriduni.

Day 14 Today is day 14 after the surgery. Everything is going quite well. I still have crusts and scabs because when I’m washing my hair I really to it with caution and literally no pressure at all. Tomorrow will be the check up appointment at Dr. Feriduni’s clinic and I hope that everything is fine and that they can wash off the remaining crusts and scabs

Day 2 The second night was also very good and I was able to sleep for 7 hours at a time. Both areas looked already much better than yesterday and I did not experience any pain. There was only some pressure since the swelling started to slip down over my face. But it did not look as awful as I thought. For the first time I washed my head with some water and let it air-dry.

Today I had a FUE hair transplantation by Dr. Feriduni in Hasselt, Belgium. Luckily I live in Aachen, Germany, so it only took me about 50 minutes to get to the clinic. At 7:30 am I arrived there and was welcomed by Cristian, who is one of Dr. Feriduni’s assistants. I was provided with some important information and a room for myself to change clothes. At 8 am Dr. Feriduni welcomed me and we sat together to have a final look at my pictures we took during the counselling interview last August and how my hair situation has changed. Luckily and because of Finasterid my hair situation did not change at all during theses 6 months. Furthermore we talked about my expectations and agreed on my new hairline. Dr. Feriduni was very friendly and took about one hour to answer all my questions and put in serious effort in creating a hairline that is appropriate, doable and which suits me well. At 9 am my head got shaved and the whole procedure started. First the FUs were extracted from the back part of the head. Everything went well and Dr. Feriduni’s team was able to extract more than 2800 FUs in 3 hours. After that Dr. Feriduni himself  Löcher vorstanzen. This took about 90 minutes. After that the last step took place. Three assistants placed in the FUs in the vorgestanzten Löcher, while I was watching a movie. At around 4:30 pm everything was done. I got a medical hairwash and an invisible bandage to protect the donor and reception area. After that I changed clothes again and was introduced to the medicine I have to take and important requirements that I had to pay attention to during the first night. At 5:30 pm I met Dr. Feriduni again to have a final discussion for that day. Actually two days were planned for my surgery but during the final discussion Dr. Feridui told me that everything worked out pretty well and the team was able to graft 2888 FUs. Then we took some pictures and was told to be at the clinic at 8:30 am the following day for a final check up. I just went to the hotel and went out for a small walk in beautiful Hasselt.
