Hair Transplant vs Medical Hair Loss Treatments for Thinning Hair?

11/24/2017 8:54:15 PM

Today's state-of-the-art follicular unit hair transplant surgery offers balding men and women a natural and undetectable solution for restoring the appearance of a full head of hair. However, in many cases, the recommended first step on the road to hair restoration is the use of hair loss drugs like Propecia (finasteride) and Rogaine (minoxidil).

Patients in the early stages of hair loss may not yet be candidates for surgery. Starting drug treatment at this stage could postpone or even eliminate the need for a hair transplant in the future. For patients with more advanced balding, using these drugs might significantly reduce the number of grafts required to meet their hair restoration goals. This would not only reduce the cost of surgery but also conserve more grafts to address future hair loss.
