Procedure detail
This surgery shows a 47 year old patient experiencing genetic hairloss in the frontal third, midscalp and also crown. We aimed to restore a natural hairline and achieve coverage over midscalp and crown. The donor area had good volume but graft quality was quite poor, having mostly single and double grafts with little triples+ . I safely extracted 5000 grafts with a plan to take another 2/2500 after 1 year if needed.
We will be doing a 2000 graft surgery in the coming months, to increase density in midzone and crown.
These photos are 1 year post op.
Patient started oral minoxidil and finasteride 6 months before surgery.
Bald class
Norwood stage 5V
The two areas of hair loss are larger than in stage 4. They are still separated, but the band of hair between them is narrower and sparser. There is significant hair loss on the top of the scalp (the vertex).
