About

Very slowly been losing hair since 21 or so. I think about it often and want to do something about it.

My Surgical Treatments to Date

1 strip with Dr. Konior.

2110 grafts

516-1's

1145-2's

449-3's

My Non Surgical Treatments

1.25 mg Finasteride

5 percent Rogain Foam

Bald Class

Bald class 2

Norwood stage 2

There is a slight recession of the hairline around the temples. This is also known as an adult or mature hairline.

Lower confidence. Self conscious.

Hair transplant and finasteride.

It is an experience that I wish I didn't need to go through, but it was worth it.  I am happy with the results and was treated very well by Dr. Konior and the clinical staff.

Finasteride and HT if it is appropriate for you.

I feel more confident and do not constantly think about my hair.

Some people should not get a HT, some should resign to shaving. If you are a good candidate, do serious homework to chose a doc. It took me 2 years to decide. Be VERY careful. Honestly, there are only a couple that I feel worthy to work on me. Be extremely selective.

Research for at least six months before getting an HT and I really think that very few people under 30 should consider them.  Consider it a life long journey if you are less than a NW6.

Procedure 1

10.5 months Here is my 10.5 months.  I am very happy with the results.  I took this photo to show the soft and natural hair line.  I do sometimes wish that my hair line was naturally a tad higher (because I worry about future loss) but we planted in the natural hairline and in places a little above, so that is as high as we could really go.  I will be 35 this winter and the doctor says I am in very good shape for the future, and I trust him.  He doesn't have a crystal ball, but he has a lot of experience and that helps too. You really can't tell that I have had any loss and if you had a microscope you couldn't tell I had an HT at this point. I can't say enough how natural the HT looks now.  I will update at a year

Procedure 1

6 months WOW. Six months! It only feels like 8 years! :). I can't imagine being one if the people that don't get a lot of growth til 7 months or so. I have to say that a hair transplant is a crazy emotional journey. Very difficult.  This will be my last regular entry for progress. I may post to this blog again when something changes but I feel that I have reached peak yield already and am not expecting to get better. This is as good as my hair will ever look and natural MPB will dictate what happens from here.  I am very happy with my progress. Dr. Konior is a class act and extremely skilled. He falls into a very small category of doctors that stand out far beyond even the good surgeons. For those that are old enough to remember the early 90's, were he a basketball player, he would be on the Dream Team. Enough said there.  Besides that I will let the pics speak for themselves. This obviously was not a drastic change because I was not an advance Norwood, but I was no longer able to wear my hair like you see it on these pics. It has really opened up my styling options and hopefully given me several years of mostly worry free life as far as hair goes. Depending on how I progress i may chose to do some excision of my CVG, the scalp condition I have, but for now i just plan on enjoying what I have. I show some signs of future loss but it could be a long time before I have to deal with it.  I know that someday I may need another surgery and will not hesitate to return to Dr. Konior if he is still practicing. I will definitely stay on fin and have expanded the area I am applying as a preventive measure.  Thanks to the site, my forum friends, and my real life friends, and Dr. Konior and his team.  I have met on the forum. I will still be around as hair has become a hobby.

Procedure 1

Four Months These pics were taken 2 days prior to 4 months.  I am very happy with the right side and front.  It has really come in.  My left is lagging just a little but it is only 4 months.  I am mostly impressed with how natural it looks. During the next month I will be looking for more growth and maturaity in left corner. Been on fin for 28 months now and minox on the front once to twice a day for a while now too.

Procedure 1

3 months So here is my 3 month update. First, I will say that pretty much all of my native seems to have grown back and I was able to cut everything to an even length. When combed right I feel very confident even at 3 months. I am, however hoping for more of a hairline in the corners. I see quite a few sprouts in the corners and not many in the front. The front seems to look better already though. The clinic has kept in good contact with me and that is appreciated. I feel very fortunate as far as my hair loss goes as it seems very stable. Waiting for growth truly is excruciating if you think about it. Many of you know what I am talking about and many of you will. I was hoping to have super hero growth by now and be one of the freaky ones but it looks like I will have to wait the normal growth curve. As far as the naturalness, if you looked at it with a loop or a microscope, I do not think you could tell there is a transplant going on there. It is super refined. So for this next month my goal is to get more new growth and begin maturing what has began to grow. My overall goal is to have a hairline there in the corners that blend well with my native.

Procedure 1

Pre Op to Day 5 After 2 years of research and over 1,300 posts, I pulled the trigger in Chicago with Dr. Konior.  It was a wonderful experience, (as far as surgeries go), and as of now I have zero regretts.  I am about 5 days post op and feeling good.  Donor is no longer tender and my swelling just this evening subsided. I definitely do not want to wish time away, but I am really looking forward to this time next year, to see what this operation brings me.
