About
My hair loss began around the age of 20. I have tried both Minoxidal and Propecia and am currently using the Minoxidal. In my early 20's I had very good success with the Propecia but felt that I suffered some of the side effects. I still ended up using the propecia off and on for about ten years but have not used it in the past three years.
My Surgical Treatments to Date
In November 2011 I had Dr. Panine perform my latest hair transplant. This was 3,581 grafts to add density to my frontal area and fill in my crown. Dr. Panine was very professional and hands on. He took great care and time in closing the doner area to ensure my scar would be very minimal. Dr. Panine also made all of the graft sites himself. His office manager, Stuart took care of everything I needed before and after my surgery. The assistants (all women) that work for Dr. Panine seem top notch. They are very nice, caring, and seem to have a bunch of experience. They were the ones seperating the grafts and placing them. I was quite nervous going in but was quickly put at ease and ended the day with being very pleased. I was schedule for around 2,500 grafts but was then told by Dr. Panine that he would be able to get between 3000 and 3200 so I agreed to that amount, but ended up with 3,581 which did not change the cost so I was happy to say the least.
I had my first surgery with Dr Gencheff in 2007 for 1,392 grafts. The result of that surgery is the frontal hair in my profile picture and my before pictures. I was on propecia at that time and I filled in very well, however since then I have stopped using propecia.
My Non Surgical TreatmentsCurrently Minoxidal.
Bald Class
Norwood stage 5A
In stage 5A, the hairline continues to progress toward the back of the head.
I have bought lots of hats and avoided events that hats were not appropriate.
Propecia
Yes. Dr Panine is very professional and took a hands on approach. I expressed to him that the Doner scar was important to me because I like to keep my hair short. He assured me it would be no problem wearing a short haircut and that the scar would be better than the current one I had. I knew we was sincere when he spent a great amount of time stitching and bandaging the doner area.
His staff is very caring and professional. He has a large staff that seperates the grafts and two particular girls that spent a great amount of time placing the grafts. Dr. Panine made all the graft sites but the two assistants set the majority of them. From talking with these two girls I found out they had many years of experience.
Surgical Transplant.
Time will tell with the second surgery.
