About

Started losing hair in the early 20s. Accepted my fate for a while and then decided to take some action.

My Surgical Treatments to Date

No surgeries till visiting this network and doing some research. I considered some clinics in Dubai but it was too much of a risk and cost to put the limited donor hairs to unknown doctors. I decided to consult Dr. Damkerng Pathomvanich in Thailand and had my operation on the 11th of March 2009 (after a 3 month waiting list).

I wished to have at least 4000 grafts but due to my thick non-elastic scalp I was only able to give 3575 grafts:

1-hair grafts - 500
2-hair grafts - 2617
3-hair grafts - 304
4-hair grafts - 154

Total grafts = 3575
Total hairs = 6723

My Non Surgical Treatments

I have not taken any medicine or ointments to stop or reduce my hair loss.

Bald Class

Bald class 5A

Norwood stage 5A

In stage 5A, the hairline continues to progress toward the back of the head.

It really haven't affected my lifestyle but recently after I got married I wanted to have a big change in the way I look. Began to workout and try to loose weight. At the same time I decided to do something about my baldness and I'm still young being 29 years old.

I haven't tried any, too many gimicks on the market such as snake oil and other local tribesman medicines where I live.

I just had my hair transplant 3 hours ago and I have to say that I'm really happy with the Dr. Pathomvanich skills, clinic and staff. I was given all the information that I needed and were happy to answer any questions I had about the operation.

It will be a year before I see the final results so I'll update you once I see them. It seems that a hair transplant is the way to go.

In one years time I'll let you guys know :)

Research, research, research.

Procedure 1

52 Weeks 1 Year Post Op 1 year has gone by so fast and the results are great. I am quite happy with the result of my operation. My wife says I look years younger. I'm certain that I'll go for another operation to fill in the back and get a denser front.

44 Weeks 10 Months Post Op Hair is maturing at this stage and becoming wavy like my natural hair. I hope that it matures a bit more but I guess it has almost reached it final stage. I'll start growing it now and see how it would turn out.

39 Weeks 9 Months Post Op Now that I look at the pictures I can see that my hair is getting thicker as time goes by. It still hasn't matured to match the donor area yet but it's slowly getting there. The other day I've used some styling mouse and I honestly cannot remember when was the last time I used some, lol. The donor scar is quite apparent when trimming my hair with a #3. Once the recipient area matures I am going to grow my hair long and not cut it.

35 Weeks 8 Months Post Op I've been getting a lot of compliments from my colleagues at work. Lots of them have been asking me for what kind of medicine or ointment I'm taking to make my hair grow.I've been combing my hair sideways to give the effect of a fuller head of hair. Also the hair in the recipient area is still fine and wirey and I can't wait till it matures and matches the hair in the donor area.So far so good.

27 Weeks 6 Months Post Op I'm at the 6 month point and I'm beginning to see better results. It is still early and I've been feeling a bit down since I'm not showing results like the other posters on this board.  Still too early to tell. I'm feeling the next two months are going to make those babies grow.

16 Week 4 Months Post Op Wow 16 weeks have passed by and I'm feeling good. It looks like the top of my head is beginning to look darker, so that's a good sign. Several whispy hairs are growing here and there. Looking forward to what the next month progress might look like. The donor scar is almost invisible and it's quite hard to tell that it's there.

8 Week 2 Month Post Op Can't believe that 8 weeks have passed since I've had the operation. I'm really not thinking about it anymore  and feels like I've never had the operation in the first place. More pimples have began to form in the recipient area. I'm still on 1/4 pill of Proscar and a multivitamin daily. When I run my hand over the recipient area I can feel several wirey hairs all over. Some visitors to my blog have left my questions. Unfortunately I couldn't reply because I was supplied with incorrect email addresses.

Procedure 1

6 Week Post Op Most of the hairs in the recipient area has shed and I'm looking almost the same as I did before I had the operation. I am noticing several red bumps as well which I'm not sure what they are. In the donor area things are better. the tension I felt in the back is now gone. The scar is a bit dark in color and hopefully in time it could return to a normal skin-tone color. I have not noticed any bleeding after I work out or on the pillows. The big wait begins...

Procedure 1

4 Week 1 Month post Op The last two weeks I have been washing my hair normally. The donor area had a lot of scabs at the beginning, after a good soak and shampoo I was able to work out most of the scabs. Lots of them had pieces of the dissolvable stitches attached to it.On a daily basis I kept seeing small blood spots on my pillow after I wake up. As of last week I began using the treadmill again. After a good 30-40 minute moderate intensity run I would be drenched in sweat and every time I will find a few spots where there is some bleeding in the donor area. However the bleeding usually stops after wiping it away and putting some pressure on it. It freaked out some of the people who use the gym.I let my friend examine the donor area to find out where the bleeding is coming from and he says that it comes from place the stitches were used; not from the donor scar. So that is a relief. The hairs in the recipient area began to shed a few days ago. This is expected and I'm glad to see them go and now all I have to do is wait.Once again I apologize for not putting putting up any pictures. I work in a restricted area for several weeks at a time where cameras are strictly not allowed.
