Procedure detail
Patient is a 46-year-old Asian male with extensive hair loss from the front toward the crown. His primary goal is restoring his hairline and add on the density. The recipient area measured 83.5 cm2; hair is coarse, grey-black with average density (71 follicles/cm2) and good scalp laxity.
He needs the maximum number of grafts while minimizing the thinning effect from overharvesting FUE and the long linear scar from FUT surgery. So, the combination of FUT and FUE techniques was done.
- FUT 2,426 grafts were done (1-hair grafts: 705 grafts, 1 1/2 hair grafts: 314 grafts, 2-hair: 1,167 grafts, 3-hair grafts: 240 grafts).
- FUE 1,012 grafts from the scalp were harvested with the MAMBA device, punch size 1.0 mm. (1-hair grafts: 178 grafts, 1 1/2 hair grafts: 92 grafts, 2-hair: 507 grafts, 3-hair grafts: 235 grafts).
Attached are pre-operative photos and post-op photos at 1 year. The patient is happy with the results. He plans to proceed with his second hair transplant on the crown area next year.
