Procedure detail
2 FUT procedures performed on a 60 year old Caucasian female with:
- A receding hairline and scarring in the temporal area after a facelift and forehead lift
- Donor density of ca. 72-84 FU/cm2
- Hair diameter of ca. 50-60 microns
Treatment plan:
-1st Follicular Unit Strip Transplantation with 2200-2400 FU to reconstruct and lower the entire hairline and temporal peaks (procedure performed on January 4th, 2010)
-2nd Follicular Unit Strip Transplantation with 1500-1800 FU to add density to the hairline and temples (procedure performed on April 14th, 2011)
1st Performed procedure (January 4th, 2010):
A Follicular Unit Strip Transplantation with 2456 FU
* 717 single hair FU
* 1462 double hair FU
* 277 triple hair FU
2nd Performed procedure (April 14th, 2011):
A Follicular Unit Strip Transplantation with 1517 FU
* 465 single hair FU
* 810 double hair FU
* 242 triple hair FU
Double layer closing with PDS 4-0 absorbable sutures;
Parallel incisions (single, double and triple units) were made in custom-sized blades technique (~Cutting Edge blades of 0.75mm – 0.9mm)
Nota bene: The importance of choosing the right hair color to minimize the contrast between hair and skin color in order to create a good optical density clearly shows on the pre- and postoperative pictures.
