Question:
I'm nine months out from my hair transplant procedure and I appear to be a slow grower. I've read on the forum several times how I should wait a year before evaluating it. However, seeing others with full hair regrowth by 8 months is very confusing and discouraging to me. I know forum member "Spex" has written about the improvements that can occur between 8 and 16 months, but it feels like most people experience most of their hair growth before that. Is there anyone out there who had significant hair growth after 9 months? Also, my growth is somewhat uneven. Does the left side eventually catch up tot he right?
Answer:
I'm glad you shared your concerns on our hair loss forum so you could garner input from the veteran members of this community. Everyone's transplanted hair grows at different rates. Several patients have experienced significant growth after 9 months and are typically referred to as "slow growers". Hopefully, this is the case with you which is indeed quite possible. Be sure to keep the lines of communication open with your hair restoration doctor and express your concerns. Discuss the "what if's" with him/her, but don't dwell on them at this point. Once your hair transplant matures in a couple months, you can then decide whether or not your hair transplant has met your expectations and work with your doctor to ensure you get the head of hair you rightfully deserve.
